LWVSFC awarded Anne Culp our Outstanding Contribution Award at the annual meeting May 10 for reframing how the League registers high school voters. When Anne became High School Voter Registration Chair in 2019, she decided students should be registering students. She developed relationships with high school history teachers, who helped identify potential voter registration agents, and with the Santa Fe County Clerk’s office, who helped get the students certified. Last fall, nine student VRAs registered 500 eligible students to vote — sometimes through friendly competition among themselves.
“The Board is proud of Anne’s contribution, her active involvement with students and her strong relationship with teachers. Anne’s time, tenacity and commitment have been essential in making this important program a success. We congratulate her on her achievements,” the award introduction said.
