Offices on the ballot for the 2025 Regular Local Election November 4

1. Santa Fe City Mayor

Mayor of the City of Santa Fe is head of the executive branch of Santa Fe, New Mexico’s government. The

mayor’s office administers all city services, public property, police and fire protection, most public agencies,

and enforces all city and state laws within the Santa Fe County. 

Qualifications: Must be registered voter

who resides in the city. 

Term: The mayor is elected for a. four-year term.

2. Edgewood Municipal Judge

Presides over pre-trial hearings, small claims proceedings and misdemeanor cases.

Qualifications: Must be a registered voter in New Mexico.

Term: Judges are elected for four-year terms.

3. Santa Fe City Councilors – One seat in each of the 4 districts

The City Council is the legislative body for the City. Its role is to adopt laws and policies to govern the City Councilors. 

Qualifications: Candidates must be registered voters who reside within the district from which they are running. 

Term: Councilors are elected to serve staggered four-year terms.

4. Edgewood Town Commission – One seat from each of the 5 districts

The Edgewood Town Commissioners are the governing body of the Town of Edgewood and holds Executive, Legislative, and Quasi-Judicial powers. All Commissioners serve at-large for the entire community even though they are elected by their districts. 

Qualifications: Must be a registered voter who resides within the district from which they are running. 

Term: A Commissioners are elected to four-year terms.

5. Española Public School Board – Positions 2 & 3

Pojoaque Public School Board – Positions 4 & 5

Santa Fe Public School Board – Districts 3 & 5

Moriarty-Edgewood Public School Board – Positions 1 & 5

The School Board is responsible for crafting the overall educational vision of the district’s public schools, from setting a school’s curriculum, to creating and upholding board policy, to electing school officials and overseeing administrators. 

Qualifications: Candidates must live in the boundaries of the School District and

be registered voters in New Mexico. 

Term: The Santa Fe Board of Education consists of five members elected to four-year terms.

6. Santa Fe Community College Governing Board – Positions 3 & 5

The Board determines financial and educational policies of the College. The Board provides for the management of the College, the execution of its policies and the delegation of the administration to the President and staff. 

Qualifications: A master’s degree from an accredited institute of higher learning. 

Term: The five members of the Board are elected to serve staggered six-year terms.

7. Pojoaque/Santa Fe Soil and Water District – Supervisors 1,2,5

Edgewood Soil & Water District – Supervisors 3 & 4

Ciudad Soil & Water District – Positions 3 & 4

The Soil and Water Conservation Districts serve portions of Santa Fe, Rio Arriba, and Los Alamos Counties. It assists farmers, ranchers, other landowners, federal, state, and local government agencies, and local organizations in implementing conservation projects. These projects help to protect watersheds, prevent

erosion, prevent wildfires and floods, provide habitat for wildlife, and preserve the health of the district’s land, soil and water. 

Qualifications: Commissioners require residency and land ownership in the district.

Term: Commissioners serve 4-year terms., There is no limit to the number of consecutive terms a commissioner can hold.

8. Eldorado Water & Sanitation District – Directors 3 & 5

An Eldorado Water and Sanitation District Director is primarily responsible for overseeing the operations and management of the water and sanitation services provided to the Eldorado community, including setting policy, approving budgets, ensuring compliance with regulations, and representing the district’s interests to stakeholders, all while prioritizing the delivery of clean water and effective wastewater treatment to residents.

Qualifications: Director must be a registered voter within the district boundaries, have a strong understanding of water and sanitation management practices, and possess relevant experience in leadership, community engagement, and ideally, some background in engineering, environmental science, or

a related field. 

Term: Commissioners serve 4-year terms., There is no limit to the number of consecutive terms Directors can hold.
