NOV 11: The Infinity Machine: Demis Hassabis, DeepMind, and the Quest for Superintelligence by Sebastian Mallaby. Looking to understand this whole artificial intelligence thing? This 2026 NPR-recommended book is part biography, part deep-science exploration. It explains the history of AI at the intersection of innovation and capitalism as it tells the story of Demis Hassabis, the British entrepreneur who founded DeepMind in 2010 (it’s now owned by Google.) DEC 9: Dangerous, Dirty, Violent and Young: A Fugitive Family in the Revolutionary Underground by Zayd Ayers Dohrn. Remember the Weather Underground, the radical, violent group determined to bring revolutionary change to the U.S. in the late 1960s and 1970s? This memoir tells the story of Dohrn’s childhood on the run as the FBI sought his fugitive parents, who were Weather Underground leaders.
