DESCRIPTION:The Open Circle Sanctuary \n654 Webber Street\nThe League of Women Voters US supports efforts to abolish the Electoral College as a morally compromised and racist institution that continues to allow political exclusion\, particularly of many voters of color\, in presidential elections. \nCome learn more about the Electoral College and why it should be abolished from former career diplomat Anne Galer. \nAs a longtime Foreign Service officer\, Galer lived and worked in East and Southeast Asia\, Europe and the Middle East and represented the United States in several United Nations organizations. She specialized in international economics and finance. \nGaler made the same presentation in January to the League of Women Voters of Los Alamos and has agreed to reprise it for the Santa Fe league. \nBecause space is limited\, we are requesting RSVPs.  Click here to register. \n  \n

The next\nstep in the process is for the League membership to come to a consensus on the\nresponsibilities of local governments related to community health. From that\, the League will\ndevelop a position that will be the basis of advocacy efforts.\nThe consensus meeting is open to all LWVSFC members and will take place from\n10:00 to Noon on January 14\, 2026\, at St. Johns United Methodist Church on Old Pecos Trail.\nPlease plan to attend! Conducting studies to develop positions is a central part of the\nLeague’s Program Activities.\nThis will be an in-person event only. We will provide copies of the consensus\nquestions and agenda at the meeting. However\, no paper copies of the background\npapers will be available at the meeting.
